A fabulous find nestled in the heart of Clinton, NJ stands the Clinton House. A landmark restaurant in Hunterdon County with the coziest atmosphere. It’s like stepping into the past with modern-day amenities. The bar and dining area style is old world with rich dark woods, stained glass, brick walls and stone fireplaces. There is live entertainment, friendly service and delicious food. I would have been happy to sit at the bar and eat but alas, it was so crowded and nobody seemed to be willing to give up their seat for this hungry soul so I “roughed it” and sat in one of the dining rooms beside a beautiful fire. The only suggestion I would make is for them to have music playing in the dining areas…food and music are like peanut butter and jelly. Each lovely in their own right, one is simply not as tasty without the other.
An after dinner stroll was in order and I came across the Steel Bridge, Old Red Mill and the Art Museum, which I will certainly return to see in the daylight to truly appreciate them as well as the historic downtown area. If you live in/around the area or are passing through Hunterdon County, I high recommend stopping in and enjoying this delicious little piece of NJ history.
