Homemade Almond Butter

Do you love almond butter but not the price of it in the grocery stores?  Make it yourself!  All you need is almonds and a food processor.  I have a blender with a food processor attachment which isn’t very large so I made two batches to yield the quantity shown.  OK – let’s get started!

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Almonds

I bought a 3 lb bag of almonds at Costco.

Directions

Use the “S”-shaped blade for this process.

Place 2 1/2 cups of almonds in the food processor.

Secure the lid and start! WARNING: it’s loud and since it takes about 25-30 minutes to process it will also get HOT.  This is completely normal.

After the initial grinding the “pulp” starts to stick together and get clumpy. Stop it after a few minutes and pull it off the sides of the bowl then resume.

Just when you think that this is a never-ending process and you fear you’ve made a terrible mistake or that you’re going to burn out the motor (my anxiety hit around the 20 minute mark)……

It gets creamy 🙂

I paid nearly $10 for this little jar in the store….NEVER AGAIN!

Keep it in the refrigerator.
